Russia's Gazprom says schedules Nord Stream 2 launch for 2021

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Feb 11 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to launch the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in 2021, Vladimir Vavilov, deputy director of the imports replacement and technologies department, said on Thursday in a presentation.

"Pipeline Nord Stream 2. The launch is slated for 2021," the presentation said.

The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom is implementing the project together with Germany’s E.ON and BASF, Royal Dutch Shell, Austria’s OMV, and France’s Engie.

The Danish Maritime Authority said in a statement late on Monday that Nord Stream 2 AG planned to finish construction in Denmark’s waters until the end of April.
